Public Enemies - My Unsung Hero

For years, I have been captivated by the movie making industry. When I was younger, I had my first movie star crush on Jonathan Brandis. You may remember him from the tv show, Seaquest DSV. He was also in the Never Ending Story 2. I was infatuated with him, and he got me through some tough times. Sadly, he died a few years ago, and I never got a chance to say thank you. I did however get a nice card and photo from his parents after they received a condolences card from myself. It was a very sad day for me.

I have had many "crushes" on movie stars since then, Johnny Depp....Stephen Dorf.....but this blog is about one man who seems to have struck me in a particular manner. He is my un-sung hero from Public Enemies. His name is David Wenham, and he plays Pete Pierpont in the movie. You don't hear a lot about the man, and I think he is an amazing actor. You might remember him From the Lord of the Rings movies....he played Faramir. He is an Australian born actor who has played a large variety of acting roles.

While Public Enemies was filming in Milwaukee, I was standing on the sidewalk waiting to catch a glimpse of some of the actors. I saw Johnny drive in, Dorf drive in and then back out, and then I finally got to see David. The only problem was, I didn't know it was him until it was too late. He was in a black SUV, and drove right past me. I reckognized him, and tried to say hi , but it was too late! All I got out instead was "Hey, that's the guy from Lord of the Rings!" I felt like such an idiot. Oh well.

I was wondering to myself, why don't some of the other actors pop out to say hello? I am sure that this question has been asked, and answered, time and time again. I just wish that they knew people DO know who they are, and would love to talk to them. Fans line up to see Johnny, and don't get me wrong.....I did too, but I was really hoping to say hello to people like John Michael Bolger, and David Wenham. Johnny is always in the media, and I have barley heard any news on some of the other actors. I just want to let them know that they are a wonderful addition to the movie, and I am a BIG fan. ( I know that sounds cliche) It's not everyday that they film a HUGE movie in Wisconsin, and I feel lucky just to be a part of that. Maybe one day I will get to meet David, but until then.....he is my un-sung hero of Public Enemies.

Here are some pictures of David Wenham for you to enjoy! ( I know I do)

This is David portraying Faramir, From Lord of the Rings

** If ANYONE has ANY photos of David from the Public Enemies movie...can you shoot me an email?! Thanks!**

OK VICKY!
GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!
Some things we have in common: the love of (well, most of your favorite movies) the Harry Potter series, the band Muse, and now, DAVID WENHAM! Oh jeez, I too ADORE this man. He is such a brilliant actor and definitely underated. I got the wonderful privilege of glimpsing him in a SUV in columbus, and proceeded to jump up and down yelling ITS DAVID! ITS DAVID!!!! I did make quite the scene, but am very happy to say he saw me and gave me a nice little grin! I was hoping that he would come out later to maybe meet the shouting little girl who recognized him, but no luck... :( After Johnny Depp, he is by far my favorite actor in this movie!!!!!

SEXY MAN!

I so wanted to meet him too - Lord of the Rings is my ALL. TIME. FAVORITE. MOVIE. and I was so excited when I found out he was in it. He was in Oshkosh the first day and a half and I even saw him once, but he never came over to the crowd. I think he figured they were all there for Johnny. In Columbus in May, we shouted to him as he was leaving, but we never saw him come back to base camp, so we weren't able to get his attention again.

I'm really bummed I didn't get to meet him.

The same thing happened to me. Only I was yelling like an idiot, bc I couldn't remember his name. Well not that I couldn't remember.....but more like I couldn't say it LOL

Is there such a thing as the Wenham effect????

I have some photos of David "Sexy Man" Wenham as the Russians call him :)

Here's the thing that I was told. Whether or not it is true, I don't know. But it could help explain someone like Wenham.

If an actor is a method actor, it is hard for them to pop in and out of character to one minute hang out on the street, like JMB or Dorff, to being on set with a machine gun. They have to go for broke, and be on in the character all the time. Even when they leave set they often times stay in character. Christian Bale is a method actor and that is one of the many reasons he comes off as being "illusive". He's not.. he's just serious about his craft. I just have a feeling Wenham might be the same way.

Also, when we were yelling for him as he was leaving that day in C-bus, he looked shocked out of the window. With all the fuss made over Johnny it has to be hard to just walk over. I don't know if it is true, but there were supposed cases of actors trying to come out and getting a "I don't want your autograph" or "Where's Johnny?" line of questioning. Who would want to put up with that? Acting involves a certain amount of ego and I think being on set with JD might have deflated a few.

I could tell you the guy from Ali story but I will save that for another time... perhaps at the Kurth. Sorry for taking up half your blog :)

Hugs,

The Judge

Vicky,
I will check the video tape from Tues in Milwaukee when you yelled "It's the Lord of the Rings guy"...Maybe I can get some pics off of the video for you!
I haven't seen him before, but those pics you have are H-O-T!

I agree, having some of the other actors come out to say hi would be great. However, I'm sure they've heard those lines one too many times. "Who are you?" "Are you someone famous?" Blah blah blah...

If those actors came out, then they would get more name recognition!
